PHOTOS: World's Greatest White Diamond Could Fetch $35 MillionAfter introducing a rare 7.59 carat $19 million worth diamond – the world's largest in the Fancy Vivid blue category – Sotheby's auction house, New York, has displayed what it is presumably the world's greatest white diamond – a 118-carat stone from Africa, which dimensions are close to the size of a small egg.
According to Sotheby's information for the press, the huge stone was mined about two years in an undisclosed southern African county.
The oval diamond will be auctioned in Hong Kong on October 7, 2013, and has a pre-sale estimate of $28 million to $35 million.

In terms of size, quality, polish and color, “this is the greatest white diamond we've ever had the privilege to sell,” said Quek Chin Yeow (pictured), deputy chairman of Sotheby's Asia and an international diamond expert.
