WHALE FREED FROM SHARK NET IN AUSTRALIA

Authorities battled to save the humpback whale after it became caught up in a shark net off the Queensland coast.

Rescuers in Australia have freed a humpback whale which became tangled in a shark net off the Queensland coast.
 
Experts used sharp tools to cut the adult male free and watched it swim slowly away off the beach town of Noosa.

In the southern hemisphere's winter months, humpbacks migrate north from the Antarctic to warmer waters off Australia.
