THE 9 COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD WITH THE MOST CASES OF OBESITY

 

The world is expanding, but unfortunately it's not the global economy whose waistline needs to go up a size.

The rate of worldwide obesity has been marching higher at an extraordinary rate for more than three decades now. According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, known as the OECD, fewer than one in 10 people were considered obese in 1980. As of 2011, 19 of the 34 OECD countries have a majority of their population that's either overweight (defined as a body mass index above 25) or obese (a BMI of more than 30).

A growing problem
The reason for higher obesity rates is pretty simple among the world's economic powerhouses: living conditions, education, and incomes have been improving. Certainly the diverse eating habits of different cultures has some bearing on this as well, but the trend has been unmistakably higher across all OECD countries.

As of the OECD's most recent data available, here are the nine most obese countries in the world:

The concern with obesity is that it puts people at higher risk of developing certain cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and even certain types of cancer. Even more than that, it can affect those around you vis-a-vis health care costs. Obesity-related costs are responsible for 1%-3% of all health expenditures in most countries, with that figure jumping to somewhere in the 5%-10% range for the U.S. which tops the list of most obese nations. Furthermore, if you add in the lost production caused by obesity-related ailments on top of these health care costs, obesity costs are more than 1% of the total U.S. GDP!

These nine countries and their inhabitants really have two choices: be proactive or reactive.

''MOSQUE BOMBER SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR MURDER

 

 

A Ukrainian student has been jailed for at least 40 years for the murder of an 82-year-old man and plotting explosions near mosques in racist attacks.

Lapshyn, 25, stabbed Mohammed Saleem in Small Heath, Birmingham on 29 April - five days after arriving in the UK.

On Monday, he admitted murder as well as plotting to cause explosions near mosques in Walsall, Tipton and Wolverhampton in June and July.

Mr Saleem was stabbed to death, just yards from his home, after attending prayers at his local mosque in Green Lane.

Lapshyn, was living in Birmingham while on a temporary work placement in the city when he killed Mr Saleem, a grandfather of 22.

He later planted three bombs near mosques in the West Midlands as part of a campaign he said was motivated by racial hatred.




 

FOUR PEOPLE ARRESTED OVER BEHEADING OF A 5-YEAR-OLD

 

 

The police in Enugu State have detained 4 ritual suspects for abducting and beheading a five-year-old boy, then cutting his private parts and dumping him in water tank.
It was made known by Mr Ebere Amaraizu, the Police Public Relations Officer, in Enugu on Friday.

According to his words, the victim Promise Osakwe, was abducted by unknown people at his home town in Aninri on October 11.

The body of the boy without the head and the private parts was later found in a water tank.
The suspects from Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State were nabbed in connection with the crime.

In a related development the police have successfully rescued one Chinenye Onyia of Udi in Enugu State form the grip of kidnappers.

Onyia was earlier reported by the husband as having been allegedly kidnapped by unknown persons on October 16, and was rescued in Gboko, Benue.

The police gathered that the victim had been staying with the said James Terkula in Gboko “on a self arranged kidnapping” under the guise that the husband had not been taking good care of her.

A man who met a woman online was shocked to discover that she was actually his son’s wife when they met for the first time.

Wang, the 57-year-old Chinese man, arranged to meet Lili at a hotel in Muling City in the Heilongjiang province when he made the awkward discovery.

If that was not strange enough, Wang’s son (and Lili’s husband) Da Jun had followed her to the rendezvous after discovering her online liaison and was equally disturbed to find his father waiting for her.

Wang said: ‘How could the person who gets a room with me be my son’s wife?’

In a rage, his son Da Jun allegedly beat Wang and his wife causing her to lose three teeth.
Wang, who used the online alias ‘Good at understanding others,’ had retired two years before and enjoyed meeting people online.

Lili was a stay-at-home mother and her husband Da Jun was a long-haul cargo truck driver who spent long stretches away for work. She went by the alias ‘Lonely flowers and plants’.

The pair met on an online chat room one night and decided to send each other a picture of themselves. Lili sent a photograph of an attractive friend while Wang sent one of a friend from his days in the military.

Happy with what they saw, the pair arranged to meet at a hotel in the city at 6pm one night.
Wang claimed to be the director of a company and that he was single after his wife had died two years before.

Lili said her husband was serving a five-year jail sentence for brawling and that she lived at home with her son.

On the day of the fateful meeting, Da Jun arrived home from a long-haul trip from Harbin ahead of schedule only to discover Lili’s online discussions with ‘Good at understanding others’. He also saw evidence of her rendezvous plans.

In a bid to catch her red-handed, Da Jun phoned his wife and told her he had to leave again for work. Not suspecting the ruse, Lili dropped their son off at her parent’s house and travelled to the hotel.
When Wang opened the door, Lili was shocked to find that the man was in fact her father-in-law. In shock, she said, ‘this was a misunderstanding,’ and turned to leave the hotel when Da Jun revealed himself and confronted the pair.

Da Jun said: ‘I’m out there working my ass off to earn money, half-dead with fatigue, and all the while you two are messing around.’

As he beat his father, hotel staff called the police who detained all three.
Officers from the Bamiantong Town Muling City police station questioned Wang and Lili while Da Jun was detained for five days for assaulting his father.







 

RAPIST APOLOGISES TO VICTIM AFTER HE COULD NOT GET AN ERECTION TO RAPE HER

 

 

A sex attacker who failed in the knifepoint rape of a woman because of his drunken impotence apologised to her and said 'it's my first time'.

Sudan-born Khalid Abdullah cornered a stranger in an alley and held a blade to her neck in a jealousy fuelled assault, sparked by seeing his own girlfriend with another man.

The victim had been walking to work at 5:30am when Abdullah launched the terrifying attack in April this year.

He told the woman, in her 30s, that he 'needed sex' before putting his hand over her mouth and telling her to keep quiet.

But Abdullah, 35, was unable to carry out the rape and told her: 'It’s my first time, I’m sorry.'
He offered the terrified woman his phone and said: 'Call the police, you can call the police, call the police now.'

The woman fled but Abdullah caught her and told her he 'wanted to kill all women' after catching his girlfriend being unfaithful.

She managed to reach her home in Peterborough, and raised the alarm. Abdullah was later identified through CCTV.

He was convicted of attempted rape after a week-long trial at Peterborough Crown Court.
Judge Nic Madge jailed him for eight years and described the attack as 'every woman’s worst nightmare'.

He told him: 'Whether due to the amount you had drunk or for some other reason, you were not successful in having sexual intercourse, clearly that was your intention.

'You did not succeed in penetrating her and she did not suffer any physical injuries, but this was an absolutely terrifying experience.

'It was every woman’s worst nightmare. The victim was terrified because of your anger and unpredictability.'

Detective Constable Louise Spinks said: 'Abdullah is clearly a dangerous individual and we are pleased he is now behind bars for a significant period of time.'




 

PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN AVOIDS STELLA ODUAH IN ISRAEL

By Mary Abdelmassih, AINA – “Two unidentified gunmen riding motorcycles opened fire on guests exiting the Virgin Church, located in Warrag, Giza. The gunmen fired automatic weapons as the guests exited the church after attending a wedding ceremony.

According to Reverend Justus, the pastor of the church, one man, one women and one 8 year old girl were killed, and 18 were injured.

Reverend Justus said the gunmen were masked and were able to flee despite traffic congestion.
The Director of Giza Security formed a task force to find the gunmen. The Corniche Road leading to the area was evacuated. The attack is yet to be classified as ‘criminal’ or ‘terrorist.’

SAUDIS EXPORT ANTI-CHRISTIAN AND ANTI-JEWISH TEXTBOOKS THAT CONTINUE TO FUEL INTOLERANCE AND VIOLENCE AROUND THE GLOBE

 

 

By Charles Lewis – “Textbooks used in Saudi Arabia’s schools contain virulent forms of anti-Christian and anti-Jewish bigotry that continue to fuel intolerance and violence around the globe, says a new report.

The problem is far greater than the five million students in Saudi Arabia who use these texts every day, said Nina Shea, director of the Washington-based Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom.

‘Because of the Saudis’ great oil wealth, it is able to disseminate its textbooks far and wide,’ she wrote in the report, Ten Years On.

‘[These textbooks] are posted on the Saudi Education Ministry’s website and are shipped and distributed free by a vast Saudi-sponsored Sunni infrastructure to many Muslim schools, mosques and libraries throughout the world.

‘This is not just hate mongering, it’s promoting violence,’ she said in an interview. It is exporting terrorism through textbooks.

Christians are referred to as ‘swine’ and Jews as ‘apes,’ while being blamed for much of the world’s ills.

She notes in the report that since the Saudis control Islam’s holiest shrines in Mecca and Medina, they can ‘disseminate its religious materials among the millions of Muslims making the Hajj each year. Hence, these teachings can have a wide and deep influence.’

It was not a coincidence that 15 of the 19 attackers on 9/11 were Saudis, she added.
Ms. Shea, a human rights lawyer for 30 years, said a prime example of the texts’ influence can be seen in Indonesia, a country with a history of religious tolerance.

In 2005, Abdurrahman Wahid, the then-president, wrote about the danger of the Saudis’ exported ideology, saying it was fueling a ‘well-financed, multifaceted global movement that operates like a juggernaut in much of the developing world, and even among immigrant Muslim communities in the West.’

In the report, Ms. Shea cites dozens of examples of inflammatory language used against several groups, including Baha’is.
The following excerpts come from supposedly revised books produced in 2010-11.

• From a Grade 8 text: ‘The Apes are the people of the Sabbath, the Jews; the Swine are the infidels of the communion of Jesus, the Christians.’
• Suggested lesson for Grade 8 class: As an exercise, students can spend time listing ‘Jews’ condemnable qualities.’
• From a Grade 10 text concerning the vicious anti-Semitic tract The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, written in 19th-century Czarist Russia: ‘These are secret decisions that aim at achieving Jewish domination of the world. They were exposed in the 19th century and the Jews have tried to deny them, but evidence exists to prove their validity and their reproduction by the Elders of Zion.’
• For Grade 11: “Baha’ism: is one of the most destructive esoteric sects in the modern age.’

Ms. Shea said the books are often exported by the Saudi education ministry to poor Muslim communities around the world who need textbooks.

Last year, the BBC said they were being used by 5,000 Muslim students in Britain. Some of them have turned up in Islamic schools in the U.S., she said.

And because the texts are posted online, they are easily available.
Ms. Shea is especially critical of the U.S. State Department for not exerting enough pressure on the Saudis to change the texts. It talks about getting the Saudis to reform, but does little, she says.

In the latest report, her fourth on the subject, she says four years ago the Saudis gave a ‘solemn promise’ to undertake a program of reform to ‘eliminate all passages that disparage or promote hatred toward any religion or religious groups.’

‘I think it is a lack of guts and a certain amount of naiveté because [State Department] staffers believe what the Saudis tell them. But in the end we’re hooked on their oil, that’s what it comes down to.’
A spokesman from the State Department refused to respond.”

According to research, the texts are common in most public primary schools and even Pakistani Christians and members of other minorities are forced to read and study them. The authors of the books led by the religious leaders have changed the meaning of the term ‘minority’, which is now perceived with negative meaning .

The problem of education in Pakistan emerged strongly in 2011, the year that the government dedicated to the promotion of this issue. In one year, several studies were published which showed that thousands of non-Muslim students are ‘forced’ to study Islam and elements of the Muslim religion, for fear of discrimination.

 In 2012 the Catholic Church National Commission for Justice and Peace published a report denouncing the law passed by the Punjab Parliament that makes study of the Koran mandatory.
In an interview published by AsiaNews in 2011, Msgr . Lawrence John Saldanha , archbishop emeritus of Lahore ( Punjab ) , said that Pakistan has become a state for ‘only Muslims.’ Non-Muslims do not enjoy equal rights.”

EMBATTLED AVIATION MINISTER OFF TO ISRAEL FOR PILGRIMAGE

Embattled Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, has left Nigeria for Israel despite the furore generated by the controversial purchase of N225 million bullet-proof vehicles for her by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA.

Competent sources told Vanguard that the beleagued minister is reported to have summoned courage and flew to Israel of on Tuesday a day ahead of President Jonathan’s visit to the country, where he is expected to perform some spiritual rites and engage in some bilateral deals. who has already been subpoenaed by the two chambers of the National Assembly to appear and answer questions on her role in the purchase of the cars, will also come under the searchlight of the special probe panel raised by President Gooodluck Jonathan.
The three-man Presidential team that will grill the minister is made up of the immediate past Head of Service of the Federation, Alhaji Isa Sali Bello, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dakusi (rtd) and AVM Dick Iruenebere (rtd). Vanguard learnt that the decision by the minister to travel to Israel in the midst of the car con was to reduce the tension generated by the negative development and to give her some time off to pray to God while in the Holy Land.

But there were doubts in the Presidency last night as to whether the minister would be part of the Presidential team to seal the Bilateral Air Services Agreement, BASA, with Israel in Tel Aviv given the negative publicity the car deal had given the country since it broke out last week.

 But sources close to the minister said that she was not bothered about the development, as she was said to have received assurance from influential persons close to the Presidency that she would not be dropped because of her political worth to the system.

A source close to the Presidency told Vanguard that the decision to query Oduah and eventually raise the panel to probe her did not come easy, as top Peoples Democratic Party members and some aides of the President prevailed on him not to do anything against the minister, given the role she played in the election of Mr. President.

It was learnt that after a heated debate, the President bowed to some of his aides, who reasoned that not taking any disciplinary action against the minister would send the wrong message to the world that the President was condoning corruption.

Some of the aides were said to have impressed upon Jonathan the need to act fast in taking action to assuage doubting Nigerians about his avowed war against corruption and to send a strong message to others in the system who might engage in similar acts.

A source said, “The President finally agreed to set up the panel to probe Oduah after some powerful elements in the PDP BoT and the party tried in vain to dissuade him from taking any disciplinary action against the minister.

“The argument of the minister’s protagonists is that she is a star performer, who has changed the aviation landscape in Nigeria and has been very useful to the party and the President, as the leader of the Neighbour-to Neighbour group that has been mobilising for the President during elections. The minister is said to have also split her colleagues who are also divided on what should be done to her following the car deal imbroglio.

Sources said many ministers, who are apparently fed up with Oduah’s excesses, are pushing for serious action against her while those in her support think otherwise, blaming political enemies for her ordeal.

Ayodeji ‘Wizkid’ Balogun has finally confirmed that he’s the proud father of a two year boy named Boluwatife.

On August 21, 2011, when Nigerian Entertainment Today published an exclusive report that Wizkid has fathered a baby with an undergraduate named Oluwanishola Ogudugu, Wizkid denied the report. Days before, in an exclusive interview conducted in his Ogudu GRA home, Wizkid had laughed off the question, responding ‘It sounds funny. Look at it ‘Wizkid has a kid’. Doesn’t that sound funny itself?‘

His label and management remained more than silent on the issue and for years Wizkid and his team avoided questions concerning the ‘rumours’. In an interview with The Punch in December 2012, Wizkid blatantly denied the baby-story.

‘It was rumoured that I had a love child. Even if I had a child, I don’t think it is something I should be ashamed of. Instead, I would come out plainly and declare that I am a father. Everybody makes mistakes. But it was just a false rumour. I don’t have a child anywhere‘, Wizkid told Nonye Ben-Nwankwo.

Should we now be concerned that Wizkid is singing a new tune, and accepting fatherhood or just assume the once naïve young boy has grown up to accept his responsibilities?

Speaking of responsibilities, the baby mama in question Oluwanishola Ogudugu (fondly called Sola) unlike many other celeb baby mamas was never thrown into the spotlight until now. That would be because Wizzy never accepted the baby back then; making most of his die hard fans believe she never even existed. And even when pictures of Sola and a toddler hit the gossip blogs late last year, no one was interested.

It must have been a hard time also for little known Sola (who is in her mid-20s, we are told) but the young lady soon outgrew her worries and accepted motherhood way before Wizzy did fatherhood – Sola has constantly been posting pictures of Boluwatife since he turned one, especially on Facebook and Instagram.

It seems Sola has moved on too, she currently works at a business solutions and market access company Structured Resource Business Limited located on Norman Williams Ikoyi Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria. According to her Instagram photos, Sola is in a relationship with another young man.

Wizkid is also in a relationship with another woman Tania Omotayo. Sources close to the couple say their relationship is quite strong not minding public scrutiny. Omotayo recently revealed on Twitter that she had known Wizkid before the singer fathered his first child. ‘We met five years ago at a friend’s house‘, Tania told someone on Twitter this October.

A surfer in Hawaii has survived being attacked by a shark after grabbing its fin and repeatedly punching the fish in the head.

 

Jeff Horton, 25, was surfing near Kilauea when a fin was spotted in the water.
Twenty minutes later, he was sitting on his surfboard with his legs dangling in the water when he spotted a dark shape approaching.

Initially he thought it was a stingray, but was forced to quickly pull his legs out of the water as the tiger shark bit into his surfboard.

The impact knocked Mr Horton off his board and on top of the shark.
Holding on to the shark with one hand, he repeatedly punched it as hard as he could.
He said: "I finally got one nice punch into the eye. I put some really good hits on it, for sure."

It was only after his knuckle jammed into the shark's eye that it spat out his surfboard and swam away.
Mr Horton was able to scramble back on to his board and, along with another surfer, paddled to the shore as the shark briefly followed behind them.

His 7ft board, which has a teeth imprint, will now be put up on his wall.

The food, which includes pork over rice and spicy shredded chicken, is served in miniature ceramic toilet bowls and urinals.

But diners at the Taiwanese eatery seem to enjoy the experience.
Speaking at the Magic Restroom Cafe, one said: "The way they serve us on top of some toilet dishes and sitting on top of a toilet seat, it's very unique.
"And some people even put their purses inside the toilets, so it's hilarious."

Another diner said: "It's really great and interesting for me because we wanted something new to try. This is a good atmosphere for me."

Several similar restaurants are already in operation in various parts of Asia.
Manager Gin Han said: "We wanted to bring in new concepts to the United States.
"We haven't seen anything like this before, so gathering some inspirations from other foreign countries in Asia, we came up with our own product.

Food blogger Jackie Lee visited a toilet-themed restaurant in Hong Kong in 2009.
She told Sky News: "It was everything you'd expect from a novelty joint - gaudy and bizarre.
"Every table featured a glass-topped sink or bath, surrounded by toilet 'seats', each with a different lid.

"In case you were wondering, it is not very comfortable to sit on a toilet lid for an extended period of time, especially not over lunch."

She added: "As for the food, well, aside from being served in miniature toilets and urinals, it was fairly mediocre. It wasn't terrible, but certainly nothing to write home about."

Researchers clone cells capable of sprouting human hair in a study which gives hope to burns victims and hair-loss sufferers.

Scientists have discovered how to grow human hair in a laboratory in a pioneering technique that could offer a "cure" for baldness.

 

Researchers took a clump of cells responsible for hair growth from seven human donors, cloned the cells then transplanted them into human skin grafted onto the back of mice.

In five of the tests the transplants sprouted human hair that lasted six weeks. DNA tests confirmed the new hair follicles were human and a genetic match to the cell donors.

The research offers hope for baldies such as William Hague and Bruce Willis

Although the research is at an early state, the British and American team is confident clinical trials can begin soon.

Professor Angela Christiano, from New York's Columbia University Medical Centre, said: "Current hair-loss medications tend to slow the loss of hair follicles or potentially stimulate the growth of existing hairs, but they do not create new hair follicles.

"Neither do conventional hair transplants, which relocate a set number of hairs from the back of the scalp to the front. Our method, in contrast, has the potential to actually grow new follicles using a patient's own cells.

"This could greatly expand the utility of hair restoration surgery to women and to younger patients - now it is largely restricted to the treatment of male-pattern baldness in patients with stable disease."
Hair-growth cells are found at the base of hair follicles and are known as dermal papillae (skin nipples).

The human hair grown on the back of mice lasted six weeks

The research continues work by Professor Colin Jahoda at the University of Durham showing that dermal papillae in rodents could be harvested and transplanted back into the skin.

The transplanted cells tend to clump together spontaneously and re-programme the recipient's skin to grow new hair follicles.

As well as offering hope for men and women who suffer from natural baldness, the research offers hope for the treatment of burn victims.

"This method offers the possibility of inducing large numbers of hair follicles or rejuvenating existing hair follicles, starting with cells grown from just a few hundred donor hairs," said Prof Christiano.
"It could make hair transplantation available to individuals with a limited number of follicles, including those with female-pattern hair loss, scarring alopecia and hair loss due to burns."







 

SHOCKING: CAT SMUGGLED DRUGS INTO MOLDOVA JAIL

A cat has been been caught smuggling drugs on its collar into a prison in Moldova.

Guards at the jail in the village of Pruncul became suspicious when they saw an odd collar on the black and grey feline, which routinely entered through a hole in a fence.

On closer inspection, they found two packets of cannabis attached to the purple collar.
When the cat was caught and the content of the bags revealed, it became obvious that the cat was about to deliver drugs to prisoners, the jail said.

The Department of Penitentiary Institutions said that someone in Pruncul was using the cat as a courier to supply inmates at the local prison.

It is not the first time an unwitting feline has been used to infiltrate a prison.
Earlier this year, authorities at a Brazilian jail apprehended a cat with a mobile phone and tunnel-digging tools strapped to its stomach.

And in northern Russia guards caught a cat carrying mobile phones and chargers taped to its belly to inmates in a prison near the city of Syktyer





 

IRAN: EXECUTION SURVIVOR SAVED FROM HANGING

 

The convicted drug trafficker was pronounced dead after a 12-minute hanging but was found breathing in a mortuary the next day.

Iran has decided to spare the life of convicted drug trafficker, identified only as Alireza M, following calls from within Iran and appeals from international rights groups against a second execution.

 

Justice Minister Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi told the official IRNA news agency: "The convict who survived (the death penalty) will not be executed again.

 

"After putting much effort to prevent the second execution of this convict, we have received a positive response."

 

Earlier this month the man was pronounced dead by the attending doctor after hanging for 12 minutes from a noose suspended from a crane at a jail in the country's northeast.

 

But the next day, staff at the mortuary in the city of Bojnord discovered Alireza M was still breathing.

Media later reported that he had fallen into a coma.

 

All judicial affairs and decisions in the Islamic republic rest with the judiciary, which constitutionally operates independently from the government.

The incident led to a heated debate between jurists, with some arguing against a repeat hanging and others for.

 

According to the media, a petition signed by jurists and attorneys was sent to judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani, appealing for a stay in the exceptional case.

 

Amnesty International also called for an immediate stay of execution.

Iran has one of the highest rates of execution in the world, with more than 500 cases last year and some 508 executions so far this year, according to Human Rights Watch.

 

Tehran says the death penalty is essential to maintain law and order, and that it is applied only after exhaustive judicial proceedings.

 

Murder, rape, armed robbery, drug trafficking and adultery are among the crimes punishable by death in Iran, based on its interpretation of sharia law in force since its 1979 Islamic revolution.

 

 

 

 

 

SHOCKING: DELTA COMMISSIONER'S ATTACKERS UNLEASHES TERROR, KILLS ONE, DESTROY CARS AND HOUSES

 

A heavily armed killer squad allegedly operating at the behest of Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary education, Patrick Muoboghare, unleashed terror early hours of Sunday on the Uwheru community in Ughelli North local government area.

Several members of the community said that the armed thugs had killed one George Imiti in an earlier attack on October 2.

In last Sunday’s attack, the thugs reportedly destroyed at least 12 houses, several cars and other property valued at millions of naira. Our sources said the armed thugs targeted community members perceived to be supporters of Clement Osieta, the town’s former President General and a political foe of Mr. Muoboghare. Mr. Osieta, who has taken refuge in Abuja, said the killer squad was sent to assassinate him, but went on a rampage when they could not locate their main target.


It was learnt that many residents and indigenes had deserted the once peaceful Urhobo community following the bloody attacks.

Until last week, Mr. Osieta was the senior special assistant to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on community relations. Several sources said he and Mr. Muoboghare had been locked in a political battle over the leadership of Uwheru clan. A community leader accused the commissioner of using official apparatus, including soldiers, to intimidate and harass Mr. Osieta and his associates.

Speaking from police headquarters, Abuja where he took refuge, Mr. Osieta alleged that there had been several attempts to assassinate him. He accused the commissioner of perpetrating a series of illegal acts in the community.


“The killer squad of Professor Patrick Muoboghare has gone to acquire guns and bullets [in order] to attack all my political associates at night,” he said, adding that the squad had a list of persons they would take as hostages. In addition, he said the squad had instructions to burn his house and that of the PDP chairman in the community. “As we talk [the local PDP chairman’s] car has already been destroyed. Professor Muoboghare has used his killer squad to destroy over 12 houses and property worth over N40 million. He told his hoodlums to do whatever they like because he owns the Delta State government.”

Both Mr. Osieta and other sources in the community stated Mr. Muoboghare’s armed thugs were led by one Macpherson Igbedi. “Once they arrived in Uwheru, they shot sporadically. They destroyed houses and vehicles and also looted shops.”

Mr. Osieta claimed that Mr. George Imiti died from severe injuries he had sustained at the hands of Mr. Muoboghare’s armed thugs.

Among those whose properties were destroyed in the weekend attack is Mr. Pioneer Ogagamuero, the PDP chairman in Uwheru. A source said his house and Toyota Corolla car were burnt.

A community leader said he and others knew some of those who carried out Sunday’s attacks. They included Igho Aragba, Jeo Erekata, Gabriel Umukoro, Godspower Ojomi, Monday Owhosiri, Oghenekaro Umukoro, Gabriel Okoribo, Benjamin Owhoreko, James Omovwe, Daniel Muoboghare, Edward Eyamu, Emijevwe Ikpepu, and Mitayire Aragba. He said four other men wearing police bulletproof were part of the attackers.

The source alleged that the meetings to plan the widespread destruction took place at the Warri residence of Uwheru caretaker chairman, Colonel Douglas Ushure (rtd) who was also accused of promised to support Mr. Muoboghare with arms and ammunition.

Reacting to a text message, Mr. Muoboghare neither debunked nor admitted the allegations. “I am sure you are aware of my situation right now. I am still recovering from what you know happened to me. The young man [Mr. Osieta] is wanted by the police. Has he shown up?”






 

AVIATION MINISTER SAID TO HAVE RECEIVED N112 MILLION KICKBACK ON THE CONTROVERSIAL ARMOURED CARS

 

Even as the minister of aviation began a new spin today that the BMW armored cars purchased by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for her use were done on "hire-purchase", new details have been revealed about the $1.6 million spent by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to purchase the armored BMW cars for Nigeria's Aviation Minister Stella Oduah.

A highly reliable source has told SaharaReporters that the shady deal for the car was done entirely between Coscharis Motors Limited, a dealership from which the cars were purchased, one of Ms. Oduah’s private firms based in Abuja, and First Bank of Nigeria. Earlier reports also the account number at the First Bank into which the monies were paid on behalf of the NCAA.

“The NCAA was not even aware of the deal until the minister told them to sign that they had received two BMW cars,” a source said.

After inking the deal, Coscharis Motors, sellers of the highly inflated automobiles, reportedly gave the Aviation Minister more than N112 million as kickbacks. Our source added that Cosmas Maduka, who owns Coscharis Motors, pocked N60 million for each of the two BMW cars.

An official at the NCAA corroborated the information that the agency was largely kept in the dark about the transaction. “We were never privy to the transaction and had not seen the cars even though our head of transport was made to sign the delivery note,” said the source. The agency is under the Ministry of Aviation.

The source added that the agency has still not seen the cars even after the scandal escalated. It was reported that Ms. Oduah compelled a cash-strapped NCAA to pay for two extravagantly priced bullet-proof BMWs for her personal use. After initially denying the reports, the minister’s spokesman, Joe Obi, admitted that the transaction transpired. Mr. Obi alleged that the purchase was justified because of unspecified threats to the minister’s life. Neither Mr. Obi nor the minister has provided proof of any threats to Ms. Oduah. The minister has not addressed why the NCAA paid a price tag that auto dealers in the US and the UK described as a rip-off. US dealers said that each of the BMW cars should cost no more than $$167,000.

Last week, an official of the NCAA, Fola Akinkuotu, spoke to the media and defended the purchase of the cars. Mr. Akinkuotu said the cars were for the ministry’s protocol pool for use in transporting foreign aviation dignitaries when they visit Nigeria. His explanation conflicted with the original statement by the minister’s spokesman, Mr. Obi. A source at the NCAA disclosed that Mr. Akinkuotu felt tricked into facing the media on the scandal. “He had been told he would only appear beside the embattled minister, who was supposed to speak. Instead, he was asked to speak,” said the source.
Meanwhile, a source at the Presidency said President Goodluck Jonathan was unfazed about the fraud perpetrated by Ms. Stella Oduah, his Aviation Minister. Ms. Oduah and the late former National Security Advisor, General Owoye Azazi, had played significant roles in raising and disbursing money to rig the 2011 presidential elections for Mr. Jonathan. Mr. Jonathan will depart Abuja tomorrow on a weeklong pilgrimage to Isreal.

However, it was learnt that several ministers and diplomats have registered their displeasure at Mr. Jonathan’s continued retention of Ms. Oduah on his cabinet.




 

BRUTAL: MOTHER BURNS SON'S P*NIS & NIPPLES OFF, MAKES HIM EAT FEACES AND DRINK URINE

New Hampshire, United States -- A woman has been imprisoned for up to 30 years for torturing her own son.

Christine Gelineau is accused of burning her then-18-year-old son's penis and nipples off with a lighter. The young man was repeatedly tortured and then coerced to lie that his wounds were self-inflicted.

At the 53-year-old woman's plea and sentencing hearing, the victim gave a detailed description of his brutal abuse sometime between April 10 and 14.

"Dear ex-Mother," he began, reading from a statement as the woman sat sobbing nearby. "What you did to me is unforgivable. You beat me, starved me, almost chopped my penis off, threw my clothes away, wouldn't let me bathe. You almost killed me by having me take three antidepressants and two muscle-relaxers.

"Now that I know you're a complete criminal and only wanted me dead so you could go back to your old life. You won't be able to attend my graduation or see me go on to college, so I wish you goodbye. I hope you realize you have lost everything you had."
Gelineau pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and witness tampering.

As part of a plea bargain, she was sentenced to nine to 30 years in state prison.
Assistant county prosecutor said the man suffered permanent nerve damage in his penis when Gelineau burned it with a lighter.

Gelineau had admitted to detectives that she burned the tip of her son's penis, but she said she did so only after he "threatened to have sex with her."

The woman put gloves on because she thought her son was "dirty," grabbed and twisted his penis and then held a lighter to it for several seconds, as he screamed in pain.

Gelineau also pressed her son to eat human faeces. She threatened to burn his genitals if he refused. However, when the young man complied, Gelineau burned it anyway.

She also allegedly kneed her son in his face and struck him repeatedly in the stomach with a pen, but those charges were dropped as part of the plea bargain.

Though it's unclear what prompted the abuse, prosecutors said they believe it had something to do with the victim, who is mentally challenged, no longer receiving financial assistance from the government because he wasn't enrolled in school at the time.

The victim was also strangled with a scarf, punched in the face, his nipples were burnt off with a lighter, his ankle was twisted until it cracked.

Gelineau abused her son together with another man and the victim's 29-year-old cousin.
When detectives interviewed the victim for the first time, he claimed his wounds were self-inflicted. In a subsequent interview, though, the victim contradicted parts of his earlier account and said that all three defendants had carried out the abuse.

The victim is now living with an aunt and uncle, and is back in school.
The young man remained composed as he read his handwritten statement in court, never looking at his mother as he ticked through a list of gruesome abuses. When he finished, he returned to his seat and buried his head in a relative's arms, the sound of his mother's sobs echoing in the background. After a few seconds, he began crying himself.




 

FEMALE MATHMATICS TEACHER JAILED FOR HAVING S*X WITH 4 TEENAGE STUDENTS

Mothers once thought of her as a friend; a teacher they could trust. But she betrayed that trust, and violated their boys.

Jamila Love Williams, a former Maths teacher at a Michigan high school, will spend eight to 15 years in prison for her illicit affairs with four teenage students.

The mothers of her victims — who were between 15 and 16 years old at the time of the sex assaults — had bitter words for Williams, 36, at a court hearing in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Oct. 15.

“You are a sick, sadistic child molester. You don’t deserve to be in society. You are a predator,” one mother said, according to Michigan Live.

“You befriended all of us mothers while in the back of your head, you wanted [the boys] sexually.”

Williams was charged in June with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. She pleaded no contest to all four charges in September.

According to Grand Rapids police, Williams had sex with the victims in a variety of locations: in a car, at a Golden Corral restaurant, in an alley, and in at least one boy’s home.

One mother claimed the teacher even had sex with her son in a locked classroom at Grand Rapids University Prep Academy, where Williams taught for six years.

At her sentencing, Williams apologized for her behavior, but insisted that she is “not a predator.”

“I did not prey on these young men,” she said, according to Michigan Live.

It was initially thought that Williams only had affairs with two students, but additional victims came forward during the police investigation.

According to WZZM, Williams is herself a mother of four children, ages 3 to 19, and is stepmother to a pair of 16-year-old twins.

Now she’s not allowed to have unsupervised contact with children younger than 16, and must register as a sex offender.

 

 

 

 

 

EXPOSED: MEASURES EMPLOYED BY MRS. ODUAH TO BOYCOTT 255M CAR SCANDAL

Instead of responding to the allegations, Mrs. Oduah reportedly called on the Reno Omokri, the social media man at the Presidential Villa to handle scandal.


Reno's job includes using a loose network of paid "anti-bloggers" to attack the credibility of such reports by leaving comments on Facebook, Twitter, Blackberry Messengers and the comments sections of websites.

The “anti-bloggers” went straight to work by claiming that Mrs. Oduah’s signature was not found on the documents Sources published and as such, that she could not have been involved. As that argument didn't seem to hold ground, they quickly started a new line of argument to the effect that she was sufficiently wealthy before becoming a minister and thus could afford the cars.
That line of argument was the first official reaction from the minister's office through the spokesperson of the Federal Airports Authority, Yakubu Datti.

 If Mrs. Oduah thought Mr. Datti's intervention would work, it turned out to be a failure as the response outraged the Nigerian public which was reeling from recent accidents in the aviation sector.
By Wednesday, Mrs. Oduah had instructed her media aide, Joe Obi, to own up to the purchase of the cars but to claim that they were made because the minister faced “imminent threats”from certain forces in the aviation sector. While the admission was aimed at creating a sense of siege and thus capitalize on the insecurity in the country, that argument only incensed more people, such that, Presidency sources said, President Goodluck Jonathan began asking questions on what to do to appease Mrs. Oduah’s enemies.

 As the condemnation grew, Mrs. Oduah reached out to leaders of Aka-Ikenga, an Igbo social cultural group, to help frame it as an "ethnic issue" in view of the fact that the two main culprits in the transaction are Igbos. She figured a response by Aka-Ikenga would scare off the public and help mobilize her ethnic group in support of the corruption involved in the car purchase. Mr. Omokri's crew also went on to strengthen that argument, attacking newspapers, websites and blogs republishing the stories as being "anti-Igbo."

 They claimed the attack on Mrs.Odua was because she upgraded the Enugu Airport to an International Airport. Even though this argument helped mobilize some unsuspecting Nigerians, it didn't serve her too well as several individuals from her ethnic group condemned the purchases.

 Meanwhile, several newspapers had picked up the story. By Thursday, Mrs. Oduah had urged her crew to try another trick: getting some blogs to publish the story that the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, had bought three armored cars for N600 million, one of which he gave to his predecessor, Bola Tinubu.

 The only lacunae with the strategy was that Mrs. Oduah's supporters could not produce the compelling evidence to prove that Fashola bought the cars, but even if that were to be true, many argued, it could not be used to justify the Minister’s monumental corruption.

 By Friday Mrs. Oduah tried another strategy: she invited the media to a press briefing in Abuja. However, lacking the courage to come out of her office to address the media, she sent the Director General of the NCAA, Fola Akinkuotu to take the stage. A befuddled and clearly confused Akinkuotu then addressed the media in the most bizarre manner, making claims that further embarrassed the Minister as to the rationale for purchasing the cars.

 An unprepared Akinkuotu spent more time accusing whistleblowers in his agency for leaking the documents. When he was rounding up the press conference, he promised to take reporters to see the vehicles, but quickly disappeared when two reporters volunteered to follow him.

 Later in the night, Mr. Akinkuotu did what most Nigeria officials do best: offer money to newspaper editors to help kill the report. The problem was that most of the newspapers had already concluded production and couldn't reverse their publication.

 Dateline Sunday: Mrs. Oduah and media aide, Joe Obi, commissioned some writers to pen articles to defend the minister, blaming union leaders andcertain voices critical of her for wanting to destroy the aviation sector. Such an article penned by one "Capt. Ore Kingsley", titled "Why Stella Oduah Must Be Punished" admitted that the BMW purchases were egregious but went on a rant to blame Captain Dele Ore and others for the “gang-up” against the minister.

 A few minutes later Mr. Obi had circulated another spurious report claiming that Fashola bought N600 million worth of armored cars, claiming that a Ghanaian website, Modernghana, made and published the findings. But the sad part is that the Mrs. Oduah and her aides didn’t understand that Modernghana.com is an aggregation website that collects news from any source without verifying authenticity.

 As of the time of publishing this report, Mrs. Oduah had recruited Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) party elders and the Secretary to the Federal Governmen, Pius Anyim, to embark on outreach to critical segments of the Nigerian society and to help appease her opponents, it is unclear if this will work as President Jonathan has already claimed he wants to look into the scandal.

WICKEDNESS: AFRICAN GIRL SOLD TO BRITAIN FOR ''ORGAN HARVESTING''

A young girl has been smuggled out of Africa and sold for organ harvesting, authorities have revealed.

It is the first case of a child being trafficked into Britain for the express intention of providing organs for people desperate for a transplant, reports the Telegraph.

The girl, whose identity has been protected, was taken from Somalia and smuggled into the UK so that her organs could be removed and sold.

A British government report revealed human trafficking has reached record levels, rising by 50 per cent in the last year.

Of the 371 children exploited, most of them were used as slaves or were sexually abused.
They included 95 children from Vietnam, 67 from Nigeria and 25 from China, with other victims coming from Romania and Bangladesh.

The report also said 20 British girls had been victims of human trafficking, in cases where they were defiled and exploited by gangs of Asian men.

In 2012, an adult woman was reported as the first case of a human brought to the UK by an organised gang with the intention of removing her organs and selling them on.

According to the World Health Organisation an international shortage of organs for transplantation has led to a black market for organ trading, as well as “organ transplant tourism”.

Kidneys are the most trafficked organ, because one can be removed with the patient still being able to live a healthy life.

Around 7,000 kidneys are illegally trafficked annually. Illegal organ trading nets more than $1 billion each year.
